About

Hi, I'm Catherine
And I've been exactly where you are...

I know what it's like to do everything right...to work your way up, give it everything, build a career from the ground up and still end up exhausted, disconnected and wondering what on earth went wrong.

That experience changed my life and became the foundation for everything I do now.

The moment I realised something had to change

I spent 11 years in recruitment, working my way through the ranks from university, moving through internal and agency roles at a large corporate, and eventually helping to set up a boutique recruitment agency.

By every measure, I was doing well. I was capable, experienced and knew the industry inside out.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped feeling like myself.

I was falling asleep on the sofa in the evenings, withdrawing from social plans, and developed severe acne that no treatment could shift. I had constant brain fog. I was overthinking every email, every decision, every conversation. I couldn't switch off. I was always 'on' and always running on empty.

For a long time, I told myself it was just the job. But the real turning point came when I realised something more uncomfortable: my job wasn't entirely to blame.

I had grown out of it, yes, but what was really fuelling my burnout was that I had attached my entire identity to my work. I had no boundaries. And I had no tools to regulate my nervous system...or at least, I didn't know which ones worked for me, and that realisation changed everything.

In 2024, I made the decision to leave the industry and reconnect with who I actually was (not who I'd been when I first started my career). And I finally did what had always been at the back of my mind: I trained as a coach.

It had always been my favourite part of recruitment. The conversations. The moments when someone's face changes and they see a possibility they hadn't seen before. I just hadn't given myself permission to make it the whole thing.

Why I specialise in burnout

Once I started coaching, something became very clear, very quickly: almost every client I was working with was going through burnout in some form. Some knew it. Some didn't. But it was there — the exhaustion, the disconnection, the quiet desperation of someone who is really good at their job but has lost all joy in doing it.

I knew I wanted to dive deeper, so I gained additional qualifications in burnout coaching, breathwork, and gut health nutrition to support my work because I'd learned first-hand that burnout isn't just a mindset problem.

It lives in your body. It shows up in your sleep, your digestion, your relationships. Recovering from it means addressing the whole person, not just the career plan.

That's the heart of my approach at Life in Colour. I'm not here to hand you a five-step framework and send you on your way. I'm here to sit alongside you, understand your whole picture and help you build something that genuinely works for your career, your energy, and your life.

A little more about me

I'm a born and bred Oxfordshire girl. I grew up here, left for the University of Birmingham, and came straight back. I'm a homebody with a passion for exploring, which sounds contradictory until you meet me.

Some of my favourite places in the world are Costa Rica, Mexico, and Nashville. I love nature and I'll always be the one who notices the sun peeping through the trees or spots a heart-shaped leaf on a walk.

People fascinate me and I have a natural curiosity that I think makes me quite good at this job.

I've done ballet since I was a child, and spent years as captain and coach of a cheer squad (now I get to be your biggest cheerleader!). I've recently taken up roller skating and yoga, and I'm completely hooked on both.

I love any excuse to get dressed up in sparkles and celebrate life, and I genuinely believe in being the reason someone smiles or feels welcome when they walk into a room.

That last one isn't just a nice thing to say...it's something I try to bring to every coaching session, every Unplugged Cafe event and every interaction I have. Because I think the world gets better when people feel truly seen.

"Catherine made me feel seen and heard and really understood my hopes for the future. She asked such thought provoking questions and got me to think about areas I hadn't previously considered. I am going forward feeling much more clear and confident." — Isabella, UK
